Spoon and Fork Cookies and Cakes

It’s been a long, exhilarating journey…

As a pastry chef, mother and owner of Spoon and Fork, I explore the serene, yet whimsical stories that exist in simple everyday life through my cookies and cakes.

The first sparkles of inspiration came to me as a child, as I spent endless hours with my grandmother in the household kitchen; youthfully thrilled by the rich abundance of tastes and smells she could conjure from those sturdy, weather-beaten yet gentle hands of hers. Even today, this child-like excitement is a chief ingredient in my creations.

My journey continued through the culinary schools and kitchens of Singapore and the elite restaurants of Circular quay, Sydney. Despite revelling in the excitement of the pastry kitchen, a part of me longed for something different. I wanted to discover more that the world had to offer.

I spent four years immersing myself in the subtle intricacies of Japanese language, art forms and way of life. I became enrapt with the harmony and rich spirituality of Ikebono; a discipline of Ikebana. It was in the midst of practicing this art form that I received the inspiration to design cookies and cakes inspired by nature and all things hand made.

And so, the journey continues…
